"Don't Give Upward on Us" is a song by American-British singer David Soul.[1] Riding high on the success of his part in the hit Television show Starsky and Hutch, Soul returned to singing, which had been one of his early career choices. His debut, the Tony Macaulay-written-and-produced "Don't Give up on Us" was a worldwide boom, spending four weeks at No. i on the United kingdom Singles Chart in Jan and February 1977,[3] and a single calendar week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in Apr 1977. In addition, the song spent 1 week at No. one on the U.S. adult contemporary chart.[4] It has sold 1.16 meg copies in the United kingdom of great britain and northern ireland.[5]
Its B-side, "Black Bean Soup", with lyrics by actor Gardner McKay,[i] is a duet with extra Lynne Marta, whom Soul was involved with at the time.
"Don't Give Upwardly on Us" was rated No. 93 in VH1's 100 Greatest I-Hit Wonders considering, despite having more than hits in the UK, Soul was never once again able to reach the top 40 in the US. Soul recorded a new version of the song in 2004, allegedly afterwards being embarrassed when hearing information technology by chance in an elevator as sung by Owen Wilson in the moving-picture show version of Starsky and Hutch.[ commendation needed ] The pic soundtrack included a embrace of the song by Wilson and Neal Casal.

Irish gaelic singer Darren Holden covered "Don't Give Up on Us" in 1997, reaching No. 23 in Ireland.
Zsa Zsa Padilla covered this in 1998, making it the start Filipino comprehend. Piolo Pascual also covered this song for the soundtrack of the film of the same title in the Philippines.
Other uses [edit]
Owen Wilson (playing Hutch, originally Soul'due south character) sang the song during a scene in the picture show version of Starsky and Hutch. The song was likewise used in the picture show Johnny English Reborn (2011).
